  • Your tickets can be found in your email inbox shortly after purchasing. Ensure you download your ticket and car-pass prior to arriving on site.
  • Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds if you can no longer make it to the festival. We are a small non-profit event and the cost of your ticket goes directly to suppliers, artists and other event expenses.
  • If you have purchased a ticket but can no longer make it to the festival, you can resell your ticket here. Tickets are not linked to names so it is also possible to sell your ticket privately, however we recommend using tixel to avoid scams.

Travel & Opening Hours
Ballista takes place at the Kulkurt Crater, Djab Warring Country, South-West Victoria. Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from Naarm/Melbourne. The exact address will be shared with ticket holders a week before the festival commences.

We strongly recommend carpooling with friends to save on emissions. Be sure to organise who will be driving in your group and set aside adequate time to arrive safely onsite before the gates close. The nearest fuel station is 50km from the site so ensure you have at least half a tank on arrival.

A car pass is required for every vehicle entering the site. Car passes can be purchased here.

If you are being dropped off (by a taxi, uber etc.) then a car pass is not required.

There will be no coach or bus service organised by us. We encourage you to organise your own coach or minibus if carpooling is not possible. This is also a great way to save on emissions.

In order to ensure the security of the event and safety of attendees, you will only be able to enter the site between the hours of 12:00PM – 10:00PM on Friday the 6th and 9:00AM – 8:00PM Saturday the 7th. Entry outside of these times, including Sunday is not permitted. No pass-outs.

Cars will be searched upon entry by security for items listed in the “what not to bring” section of this page. If you are found to have any of these items in your possession you may be refused entry into the festival.

Food and Drinks
There will be three vendors operating at the festival from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, serving Vietnamese, pizza, coffee and non-alcoholic drinks. Gluten-free and vegan options will be available. All transactions will be cash only.

We advise that you bring enough food to sustain yourself over the course of the weekend and to not solely rely on the vendors.

Ballista is a BYO event. You may bring the equivalent of 24 cans/24 standard drinks per person. If you plan to bring wine or spirits, please ensure that you transfer these into a reusable plastic bottle prior to arriving on site, as all glass will be confiscated on entry. Know your limits and drink responsibly.

Remember to bring your water bottle. You can fill it up from the water stations at the festival.

Festival Guidlines
  • Ballista is a safe space for all. Our goal is to create an intimate and welcoming experience, free from negativity. We have ZERO tolerance for discrimination of any kind. Hate speech, racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, sexual harassment or offensive behaviour of any kind is completely unacceptable.
  • The dance-floor is for dancing. No phones or loud talking on the dance-floor. Respect other peoples personal space and always ask for consent.
  • Be inclusive and welcoming to everyone. Diversity is what makes our community so special.
  • Look after yourself and your friends!
  • Dispose of waste properly and use the correct bins.
  • Use the toilets, not the grass.
  • Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.

If you see anyone breaking these rules, or experience behaviour of any kind that makes you uncomfortable, please inform one of our crew members, volunteers, security guards or medics.

If you do not follow these guidelines you may be banned from the premises and all future events.

Camp
Camping with your tent is included in your ticket. There is a designated camping area a short walk between the carpark and stage area. Please keep your tent and equipment within a 3x3 meter square. We ask that you keep the camping area calm and be respectful of others who wish to relax.

If you are planning to sleep in your car or van, you will be able to do so only in the carpark. For safety reasons, there will be no vehicles allowed in the camping area and no tents allowed in the carpark.

Once you have parked your car, do not move it until the event concludes. Please do not leave your engine running/in idle at any time. This is the number one cause of grass fires in so called Australia.

Facilites
Bubbler taps can be located at the water station to refill your reusable water bottle.

There will be clean and functional toilets on site. Please use them respectfully and leave them clean as you would in your own home. If you notice that they require attention, please inform a volunteer or member of our crew as soon as possible.

There will be a chill-out tent to relax and connect with one another, along with various other areas to get some well needed down time. Two more tents with tables and chairs will provide shade and seating in the food area.

Accessibility
We want to make sure all guests at Ballista have the best possible festival experience. If you have any accessibility needs, please reach out to us prior to the event via this contact form.

The festival site features flat to moderately slopped terrain, with a mix of grassland, dirt and rocky areas. At times it may be challenging to navigate for those with a mobility disability or impairment.

If you need help with storing medication, we can assist with this too.

There will be no strobe lighting used at this event.

Waste and Recycling
Leave no trace. We are so privileged to have the opportunity to gather on such beautiful country together. We must ensure we leave the land as we found it, if not better.

There will be bins labeled for recycling and food waste & general waste throughout the festival site. Ensure you use the correct bin and leave no waste on the ground. If you are unsure of which is the correct bin feel free to ask a member of our team or a volunteer for help.

Anyone found littering as much as a single cigarette will be asked to leave the festival and banned from future editions.

Upon departing the festival, make sure you leave nothing behind. We strongly encourage you to take your rubbish home with you and seperate into food waste, recycling and general waste.

Health and Safety
Ballista staff and volunteers will be onsite in high-vis during the festival for anyone who needs to chat.

There will be registered paramedics on site 24hrs a day. If medical assistance is required for you or someone you know at any point throughout the festival, do not hesitate to visit the medical tent no matter how minor it may seem.

We are committed to providing a space that is judgement free where any issue can be discussed openly and in confidentiality. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with the location of the medical tent on your site map.

Your health should be your number one priority throughout the entire weekend. Remember to stay hydrated, eat regularly throughout the day/night, get enough sleep, be conscious of your limits and make informed choices. We encourage a mature and safe party culture - have fun, but most importantly take care of each other and yourself.

Foam earplugs will be available free of charge at the info tent, however we strongly encorage you to bring your own reusable set.

There will also be a team of security guards on site at all times, keeping the festival safe and fun for everyone. Please be respectful and follow their instructions.

Anyone attempting to trespass or enter the property without a valid ticket will be removed by security and banned from all future events.
